Sarah Bigot

Sarah Bigot is a CNRS Research Professor trained in microbiology and genetics. Since September 2017, she has been a member of the “Cell-to-Cell DNA Transfer” group led by Christian Lesterlin, where her research focuses on the mechanisms underlying the acquisition and spread of antibiotic resistance through bacterial conjugation. Her work aims to better understand the molecular processes driving horizontal gene transfer and its impact on the dissemination of resistance determinants. By combining genetic, cellular, and molecular approaches, she seeks to uncover key factors controlling DNA transfer between bacteria, with broader implications for tackling antimicrobial resistance.
