FEMS Grants - application deadline 24 April 2026

This meeting was selected by the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) to offer grants for event participation for Early Career Scientists*. 

Each FEMS grant will be 500 Euros, reducing registration fee to 50 Euros.  If you are applying for a Bursary do not register for the conference but follow the instructions below.  If you are successful you will be allowed to register at the reduced fee.  If you are an Early Career Scientist but not eligible for a FEMS grant please email Chris Thomas (c.m.thomas@bham.ac.uk) with a copy of your CV and the Abstract for the work you wish to present plus a supporting letter from your supervisor.

How to apply
Eligibility

To apply for this grant, you would need to meet following requirements:

  • be a member of a FEMS Member Society* or be recommended by such a member
  • be an Early Career Scientist**
  • be an Active Microbiologist
  • be presenting author at the meeting (oral or poster)

*Find out if your society is a FEMS Member at https://fems-microbiology.org/member-societies/
**These are active microbiologists who obtained the highest academic degree - Bachelor, Master or PhD - less than five years prior to the application deadline date, or are a Master or PhD student. Periods of maternity/paternity leave, special leave or illness do not count toward this definition.

Payment of fees and confirmation

When registering via the online form, direct online payment is possible via our external payment provider Mollie. The following payment methods are offered: Credit card, iDeal. Alternatively, payment can be made by bank transfer. You will find the bank details on the invoice sent to each participant immediately upon completion of online registration. This invoice is also valid for submission to the tax office. The fee is due for payment upon completion of registration. If payment is made 10 working days or more before the start of the event, the transfer receipt must be presented when checking in.

To cover financial risks associated with cancellation costs we recommend that you purchase a congress cancellation insurance.
