Alvaro San Millan

Álvaro San Millán is a microbiologist specialized in antibiotic resistance and bacterial evolution. His research focuses on the role of mobile genetic elements, particularly plasmids, in shaping antimicrobial resistance and intragenomic conflicts. He has contributed to advancing our understanding of how plasmids interact with bacterial hosts and other genetic elements, using a combination of experimental and computational approaches. His work aims to identify novel strategies to combat multidrug-resistant pathogens by targeting the evolutionary and molecular mechanisms underlying resistance, bridging fundamental microbiology with translational applications in global health. www.plasmidlab.es
